John’s Runner Bean Chutney featured on BBC2 ‘Top of the Shop’ hosted by Tom Kerridge. Also known as Green Bean or Runner Bean, this chutney is our family friend. Honest, it never disappoints and goes well with cold meats and cheeses! We have been devouring this chutney as a family for at least 40 years.
John started growing long beans to enter at shows, during this same period, he has created what we think is the perfect runner bean, fleshy, sweet, full of flavour and extra-long. Perfect for chutney but getting the perfect set of runner beans to enter in a show is a tricky matter and Pam was soon overrun with them.
From this a traditional family recipe was brought out of the archives, and she started producing this chutney. Each year the amount increased and so did the beans!

Runner beans (28%), sugar, Onions, Vinegar (barley, sodium Sulphite), cornflour, turmeric, mustard Powder, salt.
